In this Keynote Address we look at the innovation and digital transformation driving one of the largest infrastructure projects in Queensland. Spanning a remarkable 17 construction sites and employing thousands of workers, the Cross River Rail project comprises 10.2KM of track, 5.9KM of tunnelling, several new stations and the redevelopment of 3 others between Brisbane and the Gold Coast. CASE STUDY - Dealing with the Scope 3 data challenge in construction

As an industry we are on the front lines of a national challenge: confronting the complexity of Scope 3 emissions tracking and measurement. Globally and nationally, there’s a growing emphasis on disclosing these emissions, yet the intricacies involved are substantial. Scope 3 emissions data is scattered across various organisations, with multiple data sources and varying levels of transparency, completeness, and assurance. Compounding this challenge are the inconsistent methods and standards for calculation, along with the absence of standardised data exchange mechanisms across technology solutions.  

In this case study we hear how in certifying Fulton Hogan’s baseline and committing to the Toitū Envirocare Carbon Reduce certification, we embarked on a 2 year project to streamline our approach to Scope 3 data collation – with a special focus on purchased goods and services, requiring over 10,000 companies to report to us across Australia in a consistent manner.

At a time of unprecedented demand for infrastructure, these changes can’t come soon enough and more needs to be done, including to ensure that history doesn’t repeat itself and that these gains are not eroded. In this session, we examine the current and emerging risks, how the industry has responded and, most importantly, the answers and tools available to contractors to ensure fairer sharing of risk and reward in delivering major projects.

The Future of Construction Summit – FCON have partnered with ADAPT a leading ANZ research house to prepare the first comprehensive and independent Future of Construction Industry Insights Report. In an effort to improve availability of localised research data relevant to Australian Constructors, we’ve partnered with ADAPT to begin benchmarking, helping define trends, and measure what matters to the industry.  

ADAPT have collated over 30 responses from Tier 1, 2 and 3 contractors from across to glean an insight as to how the industry is best capturing value through Technology Adoption and how it is poised for the opportunities and challenges of the Future.
